It's a Girl!

"Dainty Rose in a Glass" 6"x8" Oil on Canvas Panel $85

No new arrivals. This rose just reminds me of the birth of a baby girl. I saw this pretty little rose on the counter at a Gift Shop. The Florist said it was a leftover from a wedding. I decided I had to paint it before it wilted away.

Frolicking peppers

"Frolicking Peppers" 8"x10" Oil on Canvas Panel $95

I enjoyed putting together the organic shapes and opposing colors of the peppers.

Saved from a boiling Pot

"Baby Bellas" Watercolor on paper 5.5"x 6"

I like to make a large pot of soup, when the last batch has run out, especially in winter. While cutting the veggies, the mushrooms caught my interest, and I spare a few subjects while the unfortunate majority were sliced and pitched in to the bubbly concaution. I decided to do a tonal study in a sepia hue that complements the mushrooms.

Today's Baked Goods

"Opposites Attract" 9"x9" Oil on Canvas $100

When I picked up some milk for breakfast. I couldn't resist getting some donuts when I passed. Nor could I pass up the chance to paint them. At least now that I am done painting, they are not too stale to eat.

Animal Crackers

"The Tortured Child" 6"x8" Oil on Canvas Panel

Reaching into a tin of animal crackers, I thought about how some kids like to bite off the heads of animal crackers. I decided it would make a good painting.

Weekend Watercolor

"Three Pears" 6"x9" Watercolor on Paper

On the weekend there is not as much time for me to paint. I haven't done very much watercolor, but I would like to practice and become more acustomed to the medium. It's more portable and would be great for traveling and quick sketches.

This morning's breakfast

"Morning Grapefruit" 8"x10" Oil on Canvas Board $95

As a child I hated grapefruit. My daughter wanted to try them, having a taste for the sour. I cut one in half and we tried it together for the first time. I didn't realize what I was missing. Now we eat one just about every day. Observing the fruit as I ate, I was compelled to paint it. Composing this one was a dilema at first with the spoon up. I found that vertical worked best and to crop the plate off the right side was more interesting.

Table Grapes

"Table Grapes" 6"x8" Oil on Canvas Board $75

Grapes are slim pick'ins this time of year, and they were tiny morsels. I had the urg to paint them anyway. The modeling of grapes with their subtle hue variations are interesting to paint.

Another Day Another Rose

"Pink Rose" 8x10 oil on canvas board $95

I thought about doing something different today, but I bought two roses yesterday, and the second rose was too good to waste. I tried this one on a bigger canvas. 8x10 is still a very small canvas for me though.

My First Daily Painting

Red Rose 6"x8" on Canvas Board $75

In honor of Valentines Day I thought it would be fun to do a red rose. I love roses and enjoy growing them. Of course being Febuary it came from the florist. The organic subject allowed me to paint freely.
